so i have this 3 hour period between my first job and my other job so naturally im reading forums on letsrun.com
and theres this post about a girl who publicized her experience with an eating disorder while running D1 and how her coach put pressure on her to lose weight and her teammates would compete to see who could be thinnest and all that stuff that happens sometimes
and an ACTUAL PERSON
ACTUALLY POSTED
ACTUALLY
“I’d just like to point out that it is stories like this (which are common) that just goes to prove women should not be running (or competing in competitive sports for that matter). They simply can not handle the pressure.”
OH
MY
GOD
i love it when i forget to check one of the sites i read for like a week and then i remember and theres like 10 new articles for me to read YES
do you ever think about how weird humans are in modern society
like
we look for physical activities that our body is least efficient at doing (aka burning the most calories)
and we search for ways to make our bodies less energy efficient (aka raising our metabolism)
idk its not like bad i guess its just weird like why do we need to do that ya know
i honestly think ryan hall is one of the most articulate elite runners out there
he is so good with words and so clearly thinks through and understands his training like in every interview he is so knowledgeable and talks so deliberately and you can just tell hes a student of the sport i love him
1) i fell asleep outside and now the front of me is literally three shades darker than the back of me
2) i had a nightmare that i went to the doctor and discovered i had a peanut allergy it was terrifying
oh but i did do 6 miles + hill sprints yay
it is barely 60 degrees and cloudy and rainy and i just spent two hours outside in shorts being very cold
therefore i am sitting at home in sweats drinking root beer bc why the heck not
i have not been feeling photogenic lately so hi
up at 5 today, i wanted more time to chill. then im going to the trail at 6:15-6:30 so i can be done by 7:15-7:30 and be at practice by 8 (no shower inbetween this time bc i sweat at practice yesterday so sorry for the smell in advance, kids). then I’m gonna take my sister to xc camp, eat lunch, and relax a bit. then im going to be productive (college stuff) and do some strength training.
I’m not sure what you mean by “Male-type training” I know lots of girls that never take a day off
i just associate daily running with a training program that is originally geared towards males. among college/hs coaches its a general understanding that for guys the way to make the jump from good to great is to run them into the ground; “female-type” training is more conservative usually, with quality over quantity to protect the body from injury. i guess i cant really call it male-type training anymore because so many women’s teams have adopted it now
